LOS ANGELES -- The "Holy Grail of baseball cards," the famous 1909 Honus Wagner tobacco card once owned by hockey great Wayne Gretzky, has sold for a record-setting $2,350,000, the seller of the card said Monday.

The anonymous buyer has only been identified as a Southern California collector. SCP Auctions Inc., a company that holds sports memorabilia auctions, said it bought a small share of the card. It is scheduled to be shown at a news conference at Dodger Stadium Tuesday.

There are about 60 of the tobacco cards in existence featuring the Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop, one of the first five players to be inducted in Baseball's Hall of Fame.

The seller, Brian Seigel, paid a then-record $1,265,000 in 2000 for the prize card, which is in much better shape than the others.

"This particular one was preserved in spectacular condition," said Joe Orlando, president of Professional Sports Authenticator of Newport Beach -- the company that certified the authenticity of the card. "It's the Holy Grail of baseball cards."

Still, the Wagner cards are so rare that even tattered ones will sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars, Seigel said.

The others "you could stick in the middle of the street and let cars drive over it through the day, take it in your hand and crumple it up, and it still would be a $100,000 card," said Seigel, CEO of Emerald Capital LLC, an asset management company, who lives in Las Vegas.

Gretzky and Bruce McNall, former owner of the Los Angeles Kings, bought the card for $451,000 in 1991.

During his ownership of the card, Seigel displayed it at several sports collectible shows, showed it at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum and brought it to opening bell ceremonies for the NASDAQ stock exchange in New York.

"The Wagner card gave me a tremendous amount of pride, excitement and pleasure," he said. "I hope the new owner will have the same satisfaction I enjoyed over the years."

Prison Break Season 3 Information

The answer to the question that has been on every prison break fan’s lips is right here. Yes there will be a season 3. Season 3 of Prison Break (which may have a different name announced soon) will be premiered on 29th August 2007, almost 5 months after the season 2 finale. Most of the conspiracy storyline (about 90%) will be wrapped up by the end of season 2, and the third season will have a completely new plot. Scheuring quotes “The audience will definitely get closure. It'll feel like this is the endgame of the story, and yet there will be a few unanswered questions."

The third season will have eight major roles, including new additions to the cast. Most of the surviving crew will be brought together somehow, and there will be one or two new faces. When asked about the fate of Mahone played by William Fichtner, fans were told that Scheuring was very happy with William, hinting that Mahone will make a comeback in season 3.


One of the new additions is a female character who is Michael’s equivalent in intelligence, and she will act as a love interest for one of the guys. Who will it be? Your guess is as good as mine. Scheuring also let slip “And she would seem to be coming down on the side of good initially, but there will be questions [about] whether that's a facade.”

Michael has said repeatedly that he is not a killer. And he's not. He's had the chance repeatedly to ice T-Bag and he didn't do it. He never wanted to kill T-Bag, he just wanted him behind bars where he couldn't kill anyone else.

If he had killed T-Bag, that would not have been good for the character. You want to believe this guy is gonna do everything he can to get his brother away, but he has morals, and he won't be able to live with himself if T-Bag continues to roam free killing people. And he wouldn't be able to live with himself knowing he killed T-Bag when all he had to do was make it so he couldn't leave, and let T-Bag get caught.

Show rewarded for good behavior

Fox has sentenced "Prison Break" to another year of hard primetime.

That clears the series through the 2007-08 TV season, the show's third. Skein was rewarded for good behavior, having won its slot in adults 18-34 and come in second with adults 18-49.

Exec producer Paul Scheuring said his team had been proceeding with this year's season finale cliffhanger and had already mapped out much of season three when they received the firm pickup Tuesday.

"We already knew where we were going," he said. "Most of the major players are returning, but it will be a reconceptualization again, just like it was in season two."

"Prison Break," from 20th Century Fox TV and Adelstein-Parouse Prods., launched in 2005 as a drama about a man (Wentworth Miller) who stages a bank robbery in order to land in prison, where he believes his brother (Dominic Purcell) has been wrongfully convicted of killing the vice president's brother.

The two staged their escape at the end of season one; this year, they've been on the lam -- and hunting for $5 million hidden by famed skyjacker D.B. Cooper.

Season three's storyline will expand internationally; the show also plans to add at least four new cast members -- two men, two women, none American. Casting likely will take place in May.

"The scope of the show will play on a much more global scale," Scheuring said.

"Prison Break" will continue to shoot in Dallas next season (having moved there this year after filming the season one prison-set episodes outside of Chicago). But crews will spend more time shooting in Florida and Louisiana, Scheuring said.

Season to date, "Prison Break" has averaged 9.1 million viewers and a 3.7 rating/10 share in adults 18-49. Scheuring, Matt Olmstead, Kevin Hooks, Marty Adelstein, Dawn Parouse, Neal Moritz and Brett Ratner exec produce.

Kellerman didn't die people! It was made to look like he did just in case his Grey's Anatomy role doesn't work out. The people killed the guard that is why he told the guard what he did. Kellerman is saved by the Anti-Company people!

Season 3 Lincoln will be alive they are not killing off Michael or Linc. Linc with the help of Sucre, an unidentified woman, and Sara are suppose to help in getting Michael out.

Pad Man right now the boards are saying has a guy inside of Sona that they need out and they need Michael to help get the guy out. The 20 feet walk that we see at the very end has been done in movies before where Michael will have to walk the line and get beat to be able to move freely around. If he doesn't make the walk we will be the bi*ch for someone.

Look for Michael, Mahone although we don't see him go into Sona, and Bellick to put their heads together along with a few new helpers and get the heck out!

INDEED Season 3 should be good if the writers do it right. Just hope they don't go the Sara gettting kidnapped route though as it is not needing to justify a Michael escape!

I also hope it doesn't go Sci-Fi on us since we find out that the Pad Man is running sometype of Scientific Research project. Hopefully Sona isn't some place where they watch to see who is the baddest person in there and then recruit them or if they test out their research here. Maybe they want to see if Michael becomes this cold hearted killer to survive then try to recruit him to work for the Company. It could be that way as why reveal that Pad Man runs some Sci. Research place?

Read my posting that is now a spoiler for some reason. I speculated that the prison is not run by any staff. It is like a wasteland of bad people. And when the episode ended Michael is about to enter the light. I think he will have to do a run the gauntlet type deal where if he makes it through he will do ok if not he will be a bi*ch for someone.

Mahone we don't see enter Sona but he is signed for Season 3 so I am sure he will be in Sona. Either Michael helps him or vica versa and the same with Bellick!

C-Note may still be involved in Season 3. The directors have said for certain if he will return or not but he could come back into play somehow! Don't know how but wouldn't mind him back if they do decide to include him

On Sara and Linc situation it seems that Sara heard and saw Linc but started walking fast because I think a company man was in the station with her and she either figured out some plan or they want her for some reason. That is why I think she started walking fast after Linc called out to her. There were two company guys I think the one standing outside of the car and the one in the drivers seat. Because Michael is gonna need help to break out and Mahone is one smart fu*ker. Obviously the Company doesn't know about Mahone because Kim was suppose to kill him but now Michael and Mahone will make a good combo in jail while we see Linc, Sucre, and Sara and this linc love interest (who is suppose to be a company spy).

C-Note may still be involved in Season 3. The directors have said for certain if he will return or not but he could come back into play somehow! Don't know how but wouldn't mind him back if they do decide to include him

EOnline's Kristin Veitch says she's betting it's more than one, and that her guess is that both C-Note and Kellerman will be offed, because Rockmond Dunbar and Paul Adelstein both have new series starting this fall. Adelstein's set to be in the new Grey's Anatomy spin-off, and will only say of his Prison Break character's fate that this season will end "on a cliffhanger" for Kellerman. Rockmond Dunbar, on the other hand, apparently told Kristin that C-Note is "on his last leg."
