^^^^ agreed I really liked it.... Didnt appreciate all the talk in the second movie tho but the chase scene was illlllllllllll.

It does seem kind of cheesy, but for some reason girls want to see this:shrug: I guess cuz its a horror flick.
gotta expect some crazy sh*t from q.t. in any of his movies ... all his movies are sick and twisted and i love it ... def. gonna check this out tomorrow nite
I cant wait to see this .... I love horror flicks .. have over 550 dvds of just horror movies

rodriguez movie was the sh*tTT...madd action..not boring..and was funny..what more can you ask for..
tarantino's movie was kinda boring..although the action scenes were good..there was too much talking..
the intermission commercials were fu*kin hilarious..

i just got back from this flick. i loved planet terror and i like death proof. there was too much dialogue in death proof though imo. and i know that it was supposed to be like gritty production or whatever(like the grainy lines and sh*t) but was there suppose to be fu*ked up audio in planet terror? that sh*t got so annoying.

yo just got back from seeing it, for the second time. I fell asleep during Death Proof the first time, because I went to the latest show.(yes and because of the dialogue)
first of all, let me say I have been a fan of grindhouse films for awhile now, so this is one major reason I saw this movie. too much stale sh*t nowadays. Too many remakes, prequels, sequels. u all know it. When I heard these 2 directors were bringn the glory days back, I was so pumped. I really enjoy cinema and films as a whole, so I went into this not just as an average movie viewer. I appreciate what QT and RR did.
Lots of the people in both audiences seemed to think the movie was one big joke. Yes, there was a lot of funny parts, but Its not just a joke movie. leads me to believe they dont even watch 70s and 80s flicks. Hell, I bet most of the people who saw this have seen Terminator 1, and didnt even notice Michael Biehn- Kyle Reese. I bet most of them didnt even know who Tom Savini was.
ok that being said heres my thoughts on the movies for anyone who cares.
Planet Terror-
Loads of fun. Gory, lots of action, doesnt take itself very seriously. Some good characters, a decent story ( but some of the best flicks from the grindhouse days didnt even need a story). I really enjoyed it.
Trailers
they were all great. I have always thought Thanksgiving was great, but Machete was always my favorite. After seeing it for a second time tonight, I realize, Machete kicks so much ass, but Thanksgiving really clearly is the best one in my opinion. It has the look down to a fu*kin tee. It has the feel. It flows the best as a trailer. It looks like a lot of the films I used to watch, and it would be kickass if it was made into a feature. If Roth could make it look how his trailer did, it would be fu*kin awesome.
Death Proof-
I fell asleep first time I watched this. Like I said earlier it was the latest showing, so Death Proof didnt even start till past 1am. Add this ti all the dialogue, and th fact the seats are too comfortable, and thats how I fell asleep. Tonight, I saw it in whole. The dialogue did not bore me as much this time. It starts off great, some dialogue, but then some suspense an some great kills by Kurt Russell. really enjoyed that. Then we get a lot of dialogue. it leads up to the climax though. If the viewer can get past all that, it gets great. You got the stunwoman Zoe actually performing all those stunts. Only a dummy was used in one shot. You got some great car chases. it was a car movie. A lot of people went in expecting a slasher. I thought the ending was decent.
It was not the usual Tarantino flick. I always think it gets some hate, because Planet Terror came first and that has a lot more action, and does not really slow down for any long amounts of time like Death Proof did.
A few more things....
-The music was great in both. I really commend Rodriguez for being like one of my favorites- John Carpenter- and composing the music he uses in his films.
-Actors- GODDAMN HOW GOOD WAS KURT RUSSELL IN DEATH PROOF? If you hated Death Proof or thought it was sh*t, at least admit K Russell was great in it!!
Conclusion- I really enjoyed them both. QT and RR set out to make a tribute to grindhouse cinema and they achieved it. It was a great theatre experience. I dont know how well they will do as single features, but as a double featur it was definitely worth my hard earned money. If you a fan of grindhouse or horror, definitely check these out. or if you have an open mind, and want to see something new instead of the fu*kin bullsh*t Hollywood spews out, check this out. I just hope your not like the kid near me who uttered "worst movie I have ever seen" and left after Planet Terror. what a bi*ch.
