View Full Version : Do jewish people celebrate easter?
Thursday

I was thinking about this recently, it never crossed my mind before hand. But technically jewish people shouldn't celebrate easter.
yeah that sounds harsh but easter is the day jesus was said to be resurected. and jewish people believe jesus was a fasle prophet.
that should be correct, unless jewish people celebrate it for another reason.
right?

actually they do believe he was a prophet from God, but was not the so called "messiah" or son of God, and yes it would be a contradiction of their faith if they celebrated easter the religious holiday, but that doesn't mean that they can't participate in things like the easter bunny with their kids.

and i'm not quite sure but I think passover, which is a Jewish holiday, falls sometime around easter but I could be wrong.

It just so happens that Jesus' "Last Supper" was in fact a Passover Seder, hence the similar "schedules" of both Passover and Easter.
To answer your questions, essentially, no, Jewish people do not celebrate Easter but many who are "assimilated" or irreligious join in on the "traditional" sense of Easter just as they would for Christmas.

yes. They celebrate it because Jews killed what they thought was a false prophet. But He is the Son of God. Therefore, they're going to hell. How ironic is it that God's people, the Jews, rejected Him. Now that's fate!

the ironic thing about jewish people and the belief jesus was a false prophet, it was believe by all jewish people that the real prophet would come and they would kill him thinking he wasnt, when he really was. then they did exactly that.

The jews will not go to hell, because jesus was supposed to die fro our sins so they would be forgivien, which means that it is what God wanted , therefore they will not go to hell because it is what god wanted

first off, the jewish people don't believe in hell.
secondly, easter, just like most christian holidays, have been so americanized that they've completely lost their meaning. muslims can celebrate kwanza, christians play dreydal (spelling?), so why can't jews celebrate easter? those that do don't celebrate it for the true reason, but then again who does these days? people just love those eggs.
and to those anti-semites, jesus was jewish. romans killed jesus. christianity is based around the ideas and beliefs of judaism.

The Jewish Scribes and Priests killed him actually, they delivered him to Pontius Pilate and demanded him crusified. Although technicaly you could say the Romans killed him, they both had a hand in his death regardless.

Nobody killed Jesus
He sacrificed himself for the people so their sins could be washed away and they could live life a new (the way Jesus preached).
Thats the point of the story fiction or not.
^well that turned out to be a failure.

The Romans killed Jesus, not the Jews. Jesus was killed for preaching against the Roman deities, not the Jewish God. And yes, Jews can celebrated Easter or whatever non-Jewish holiday they want because it is a commercial holiday. BTW, Jews don't believe in Heaven/Hell. They refer to the afterlife as one unified place where they go to become one with their maker.

He broke quite a few temple laws....such as working on the sabbath and saying that he was the son of God.
The Jews delivered him to Pilate...and Pilate sentenced him to death. No doubt the Jewish priests and scribes had a hand in his death, but the romans were the ones who actually killed him.

I'm Jewish.
Yes we do.
I believe your mistaken with the statement "Jews don't believe in Hell", which is only slightly true. Jews do believe in Hell, but not in the Christian sense in which there is fire and brimstone and physical pain. The Jewish form of Hell is more of a "recovery" towards being a better person.

Jewish people believe that when they die they go to a place to be with thier creator...but they dont call it heaven.I know they dont believe in purgatory.
Believe me..my moms used to work in a jewish retirement home...i went there multiple times and spoke to people.

Place with their creator, heaven: it's the same thing. Of course it wasn't originally called "heaven", they spoke Aramaic and Hebrew. The true Jewish expression for "heaven" is "Olam HaBah" which means "the world to come"
Believe me..my moms used to work in a jewish retirement home...i went there multiple times and spoke to people.
You spoke to people? Look man, I'm telling you: I've read the Talmud and taken multiple classes on Judaism (aside from the fact that I actually AM one).....

The Easter Bunny and the Eggs are from a Pagan holiday called Eastre, which happens to fall at the same time as when Jesus was supposedly resurrected, so the Christian Faith simply absorbed the converts into their religion, changed the name to Easter, and kept a few of the traditions. Same thing happened with Christmas. I'm not saying its a bad thing, just that it happened. And, no, Jews do not celebrate the Christian holiday of Easter any more than Christians celebrate the Jewish Holiday of Yom Kippur.

Jesus didnt even die people. Do u really think God bring harm to one of his prophets? Jesus was sent to heaven before any harm could be done to him, and a lookalike was crucified in his place

this is fact. jesus then hid behind a rock and took off his robes. underneath he was wearing a bunny suit and he hopped around and hid painted eggs for all the kids to find. this is now known as "easter".
